Camp Naish is equipped with canvas tents fixed on wooden platforms with 2 cots in each. * A tarp on the floor of your tent will feel cleaner than the wood planks on your bare feet and might deter the creepy crawlers that live under your platform from crawling on you at night. (8x8 should do it) * Some kind of foam pad is highly recommended: a Thermarest or twin size egg carton foam pad to put on the cot is comfortable. Some campers take their cots out and had a full size blow-up bed on the floor of their tents or pushed their cots together with a full size blow up mattress on top of them. * For Summer camping, bring what is comfortable: sheets and a light blanket or a light sleeping bag. * Bring a pillow or you can improvise a pillow with your towel and extra clothes. * A tent light with a magnetic attachment is useful; one with a fan gives some relief from the heat. (Coleman brand available at Dick’s) * A glow stick will provide a little light in the tent for young campers. (Dollar Store or Dick’s) * A whisk broom for daily sweeping keeps everything cleaner. (Dollar Store) * Flip flops for night time trips to the restroom, swimming and showering. (See special restrictions below) * A flashlight for nighttime exploring. * A small cooler for some snacks and drinks for yourselves. Everything is pretty tasty at meal time, but a snack and an extra drink are handy. * Bring some spending money for the trading post. * Bring all of those gadgets you have won selling popcorn-the pocket knife, the head lamp, the compass, the 4-in-one thing, they might actually use them! * Personal toiletries: toothbrush and paste, soap or some wetwipes, shampoo if you plan to shower. Sunscreen and bug repellant. * Swimsuit and towel. * Pack 3250 t-shirt, Class A uniform for picture, extra shorts and socks, extra t-shirt and underwear, a cap. * A couple of large garbage bags to be used as raingear or as your trash bag or as your dirty clothes bag or a sling for your broken arm or… * Downtime activity-a book, a football or soccer ball, rope to practice knots, tree book to identify trees, etc. * Swim goggles (swim test and free swim) * Extra white t-shirt for tie dying * water bottle w/strap * Electric fans - Wal Mart sells a battery operated fan (link here) * Outdoor chairs (2) * Snacks * Camera * Webelo (or Bear) book with pencil to track achievements ** They do not allow you to wear shoes into the restrooms/showers at the pool. To get to the restrooms/showers at the pool, you and your son will traverse gravel roads, so flip flops are not a good choice. Crocs or Teva type shoes are better if you are going up to swim or shower. Bring a pair of clean shower shoes or flip flops to wear while you are showering. There is a latrine in our campsite. Tennis shoes or hiking boots are needed for all other activities. * Bring a rain poncho for yourself and your son or rain gear if you have it. Please know how your son is with his pocket knife. You may want to keep it with you so that he can "check" it out when he wants to use it and you can supervise what he is using it for.
You will be able to park pretty close to your campsite, so you can keep extra gear in your car. Carpooling would be recommended
